'Thunderball' underwater sled sells for £20,000 at auction

17-Oct-2014 • Collecting

Propstore.com hosted an online auction on October 16th at Vue Cinemas in Westfield, London. Amongst the raft of film memorabilia were a selection of James Bond props from the 50 years of the franchise.

Lot 145, the "Thunderball" underwater sled fetched an impressive £20,000 whilst Roger Moore's Safari shirt from "The Man With The Golden Gun" fetched £4,750. Moore's outfit was pipped by the shirt worn by Bond villain, Francisco Scaramanga (Christopher Lee), which sold for a round £5,000.

From the Brosnan era, Q's "Tomorrow Never Dies" remote control Nokia sold for £8,500 but a fullsized stunt-ready Q-Boat failed to sell.

The "Casino Royale" $500,000 Casino Chip cost its buyer an astounding £2,250.
