Tabloids speculate Daniel Craig 'done' with 007

19-May-2016 • Bond News

If you have been living under a rock recently then you will not know that Tom Hiddleston is a tabloid favourite to take over the famous Walther PPK.

Hiddleston did play a spy recently, Jonathan Pine, in the hit TV recreation of John Le Carré's "The Night Manager". Since then, try as he might, the "Thor" actor has been unable to shake the rumours.

Bookies were keen to get in on the action, giving odds to punters on Hiddleston's crowning as Bond #7.

The Daily Mail now claim that the highest paid 007 actor has cut his ties to EON, telling the franchise-owners he's "done" playing James Bond.

The tabloids dug up Craig's ill-chosen comments from last year when the actor was quoted as saying he couldn't imagine playing Bond again. The actor since cleared this up, by explaining he was straight off the long shoot for "Spectre" and that he couldn't think beyond the moment.

Meanwhile the BBC contradicts the tabloid's predictions with their own unnamed insiders who say that the status is the same, he has made no decision, and any decision Craig will make about coming back as Bond is not imminent.

Production on Bond 25 is at least a year off, as MI6 understands that a new film is not planned for release until 2018.
