'Skyfall' earns $77.7m in its first weekend on release

28-Oct-2012 • Skyfall

The weekend is not yet out and "Skyfall" is already reporting a phenomenal taking at the British and European box office.

007 stormed into theatres on Friday and has already set records for UK attendance in the first weekend and has enjoyed a 76 percent boost on "Casino Royale" attendance numbers - which, given the public's initially reluctance to accept Craig as the new 007, may be unsurprising.

Bond in IMAX is already proving a big hit, and has set the record as Sony's best non-Summer opener. "Skyfall" took $3.5 million in 79 locations over 15 territories this weekend alone.

The film opens in the US on 9th November - some two weeks after the UK.
