Sean Bean to return to spy genre with 'Legends' TV series

10-May-2013 • Actor News

One time 007 contender and ultimately James Bond villain Sean Bean is to get back in the fictional spy business later this year. The "GoldenEye" star is set to headline a new TV series "Legends" for TNT in the USA.

Bean will play an undercover agent working for the FBI’s Deep Cover Operations division who has the ability to transform himself into a completely different person for each job.

The project is based on a novel by Robert Littell and executive produced by Homeland duo Howard Gordon and Alexander Cary along with Jonathan Levin.

The cast will also include Ali Larter as a fellow operative who has a history with Bean’s characters, Rob Mayes as a former Special Ops agent with a single-minded mission-first mentality and Tina Majorino as the newest member of the DCO team.

"Legends has everything you want in a good spy drama: intriguing characters, multi-layered plots, a terrific cast and lots of action and suspense," said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT. "At the center of it all is Sean Bean, giving an outstanding performance in an extremely complex and difficult role. We are very excited to work with Howard Gordon and his fellow executive producers, who have put together a truly extraordinary drama."
