7,000 extras considered for SPECTRE's Mexico City scenes

14-Feb-2015 • Spectre (2015)

After a wide casting call was made in the city earlier this month, some 7,000 potential extras are being shown to filmmakers from the UK, confirming earlier rumours that the shoot would require a large crowd.

The dates for the Mexican leg of the shoot have been vague 'til this point, but casting in Mexico City opened with a flurry on 5th March and recruiters were handing out flyers to the general public. Now the casting agency has narrowed down the search to 7,000 extras from a possible 200,000 hopefuls and reveals that shooting is expected to start in Mexico in late March. The agency welcomed people of all physiques, colours and sizes.

A further casting call went out last week for "Catrinas people," the striking elegant skull that is the icon for Mexico's Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It is understood that the SPECTRE production team seek to re-stage the festival, traditionally held in late October and early November.
