UK box-office nears record $100m mark for Casino Royale, holding well overseas

"Casino Royale", which improved from the previous international box-office weekend by 16% and declined by only 12% in holdover markets, has hit a total of $371 million overseas - 24th highest of all time and $100 million better than the previous best Bond pic, "Die Another Day" - and $531 million worldwide.

"Casino" has shown particular power in the U.K., its eighth weekend, dipping just 19% to $2.3 million at 360 to bring the Brit total to $99.1 million.

Only two other pics - "Titanic" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" - have topped $100 million in Blighty.
