Mission Impossible's Henry Cavill still angling for Bond role

27-Jul-2018 • Actor News

Not unfamiliar with franchise work, Henry Cavill has appeared as Superman and Napoleon Solo and now has a leading role in the new 'Mission: Impossible.'

Quizzed by Yahoo earlier this week, Cavill says he's ready for Bond if the 007 producers were looking for a star for the 26th and subsequent pictures.

"I think Bond would be a really fun role. It’s British, it’s cool. I think that now that I have my Mission: Impossible badge we can do real stunts and really amp it up as well." Mission: Impossible, like Bond before it, relies heavily on the 'wow' factor of new stunts, done for real and Tom Cruise, who plays Ethan Hunt in the series, is intent on doing as much as possible.

Whilst some might think it far-fetched that Superman could seamlessly transition into Bond, in fact, in his early 20s Cavill auditioned for a role in the James Bond franchise as a replacement for Pierce Brosnan. The part ultimately went to the older and more established actor, Daniel Craig, but never say never! After all, Brosnan and Timothy Dalton before him both had to turn down the part before being welcomed back more than a decade later.

Cavill has added that whilst his higher-profile parts have all be in the action/adventure genre, he's not opposed to branching out. " I’m up for any genre it’s just the scripts have to be good and that’s important to me", he said.
