Amazon confirms producers have started on Bond 26

The annual industry event for theatrical exhibitors, CinemaCon, is taking place in Las Vegas this week. Studios each throw presentations and previews of their upcoming films to cinema chain owners to drive interest and hopefully screen count when they open.
Amazon MGM Studios executives Courtenay Valenti and Sue Kroll presented last night on stage at Caesars Palace.
"We are committed to honoring the legacy of this iconic character while bringing a fresh, exhilarating new chapter to audiences around the world alongside Amy [Pascal] and David [Heyman]," they said. "They’re both in London getting started and couldn’t be here tonight, but we wanted to thank them for what we know to make an incredible partnership."
Variety first published the news but misquoted Amazon, substituting the word 'exotic' for 'exhilarating.' They have subsequently corrected the article, but the link URL still carries the wrong term.

Fans online were quick to latch on to 'exotic' and speculate as to what it meant: casting, locations, style? None of that matters now, as it was simply a misquote. 'Exhilarating' is much more in line with how studio executives would describe a Bond movie without seeing a script.
What we can take away from this short statement is that a) Pascal and Heyman are actively working on Bond 26, and b) they are working in London. The latter may indicate that Bond will remain a British-based production (Heyman's production company is UK based).
A less significant take-away is that Amazon did not name the film 'Bond 26.' It is assumed, but by no means certain, that this new film under new leadership with no involvement of a Broccoli or EON Productions will still continue the numbering. Another franchise that recently rebooted under a new production company, 'Doctor Who,' has twice ditched series/season numbering and reset back to '1,' much to the ire of long time fans.
Amazon MGM Studios told CinemaCon that they are committed to 15 theatrical releases annually by 2027 with 14 films already set for 2026.
