John Logan on continuing to show Bond's vulnerability and emotions

09-Mar-2013 • Spectre (2015)

The Bond 24 writer, who had a hand in crafting the successful "Skyfall" has given a quick teaser to the Financial Times whilst discussing his new Dench- and Whishaw-starring play "Peter and Alice".

John Logan says that he's keen to keep picking at some of the threads he unraveled in "Skyfall", and sees his inspiration as flowing from Fleming Bond's vulnerability:

"Fleming’s courage in showing Bond’s fear and vulnerability and depression was really interesting and something that a modern audience can accept."

"I think Skyfall demonstrated that they want more layers to that character. And those are the layers that Fleming wrote."

Of the plot to "Peter And Alice", Logan comments "I've been thinking about it for 20 years and I wasn't ready to write it until three years ago." Now he's got the chance to work with theatrical stalwart, Dame Judi Dench, and the recently start-spangled Ben Whishaw.

Thanks to Josh for the alert.
