Dame Helen Mirren eyes Bond villain role

06-Aug-2013 • Spectre (2015)

After she publicly supported the idea of the next Doctor being played by a female actress for the first time in the series' 50 year history, Dame Helen Mirren has turned her attention to another half-century running franchise after Peter Capaldi was unveiled as the 12th Doctor.

"I so do not want to play Doctor Who, I really don't. I'd like to be a Bond villain," she told Digital Spy.

"That's something I would really love to do and I'd also like to play Catherine the Great of Russia."

Famous for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, Mirren explained: "I'm not saying that I am remotely like an MI5 or CIA agent but the Queen is a very specific person, living in a very specific world which I know nothing about and I never come near so that was much more work in a way," she said.
