James Bond radio actor Michael Jayston dies aged 88

English stage, television, and film actor Michael Jayston, famous for his role in 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' and playing the Valeyard in all fourteen episodes of the Doctor Who serial 'The Trial of a Time Lord,' has died at the age of 88.

Jayston is one of very few people who have officially played the role of James Bond. In 1990, he voiced Bond for the BBC Radio 4 play adaptation of Ian Fleming's 'You Only Live Twice.'

Michael Jayston was married three times, to Lynn Farleigh in 1965 and, after his first divorce, to Heather Sneddon in 1970. He remarried in 1979 to Ann Smithson. He had three children with Sneddon and two children with Smithson.

Jayston lived in Hove, Sussex. He died on 5th February 2024, at the age of 88, after a short illness.
