007 continuation author John Gardner recovering from mild stroke

25-Jun-2006 • Literary

James Bond continuation author John Gardner has posted a statement on his website regarding a recent mild stroke:

John would like to thank all the fans, friends and colleagues who have been in touch following his illness.

On 28th May John was alone in his cottage when he fell, thinking he had lost his balance. He managed to summon his daughter Alexis quickly and she realized that it wasn't just a fall. She got a doctor and ambulance there with speed and John was diagnosed as having suffered a mild stroke.

He has undergone treatment in the North Hants Hospital and was released this week. He says he couldn’t have had better care anywhere else. The doctors and nurses were wonderful and I wanted for nothing. My children and my dear Trish seemed to be there round the clock. Everyone has been so kind.

John is now concentrating on getting better.
