Sebastian Faulks novel `Birdsong` picked up for the silver screen

29-Jul-2007 • Literary

Celebrated British writer Sebastian Faulks will finally see his acclaimed novel "Birdsong" hit the big screen - fourteen years after it was written.

Production company Working Title Films have owned the rights to the novel for over ten years, but claimed they could not find a suitable director to take on a movie.

But since Faulks was approached to write the latest James Bond novel, Working Title says "there is something afoot".

Birdsong is set during World War One and received high praise for its portrayal of life in the trenches.
