Tabloid makes wild claim with Next Bond rumour

10-Dec-2023 • Bond 26

Next Bond stories usually write themselves: an actor's agent floats a rumor, a tabloid picks it up, it quotes from an 'anonymous' source, pulls a quote from an old interview, and ends by saying that producers had "no comment."

The Sun (UK) has broken the mold today by not only claiming that Oscar-nominated actor Paul Mescal is being lined up to play the next James Bond, but that he's only one of two actors playing the role in the next film.

"The next James Bond film will star two 007s — one younger and one older," claims the paper.

The 27-year-old actor said in 2020: “Would I play Bond? Yeah? I don’t know. If it ever came my way, we’d discuss it.”

He'll be seen next in Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" sequel.
